These guidelines explain how law enforcement officials can request information from SDA Match. We are committed to the safety of our community and to cooperating with valid legal process, while protecting our members' privacy in accordance with applicable law.
Law enforcement requests must be submitted in writing on official letterhead from the requesting agency and sent to legal@sdamatch.app. Please include the name and contact information of the requesting officer, the agency, and a working return email address from an official domain.
We disclose account information only when we receive valid and properly served legal process appropriate to the type of information sought:
We review every request for legal sufficiency and may object to, narrow, or decline requests that are overbroad, vague, or legally deficient.
In emergencies involving an imminent risk of death or serious physical harm to any person, law enforcement may submit an emergency disclosure request. Email legal@sdamatch.app with "EMERGENCY DISCLOSURE REQUEST" in the subject line and describe the nature of the emergency and the specific information needed. We may voluntarily disclose information when we believe in good faith that doing so is necessary to prevent such harm.
We will honor valid requests to preserve account records for a reasonable period (typically 90 days, extendable on request) pending the service of valid legal process. Preservation requests should be sent to legal@sdamatch.app.
Depending on the account, available records may include profile information, the email address used to register, approximate location data the member provided, match and message activity, and abuse reports. We retain data only as described in our Privacy Policy and cannot produce information we do not have.
Our policy is to notify affected members of requests for their information before disclosure, so they may seek to protect their rights, unless we are legally prohibited from doing so or we believe notice would create a risk of harm.
We have zero tolerance for the sexual exploitation of minors. We report apparent child sexual abuse material (CSAM) to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and cooperate with the resulting investigations.
